List of awards and nominations received by The Big Bang Theory
''The Big Bang Theory'' is an American situation comedy created, produced, and written by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady. The show premiered on CBS on September 24, 2007, and the ninth season premiered on September 21, 2015.
During its debut, the show received mixed reviews, but it later became highly positive, and is considered one of the best comedies in U.S. television. As the showed progressed, it was nominated for several awards, with the Primetime Emmy Awards and the Online Critics Awards being the most popular nominations.

Since 2009, ''The Big Bang Theory'' has been nominated for 39 Primetime Emmy Awards (including the Creative Arts Emmy Awards), more than any other award it received.
Jim Parsons has been nominated for more Emmy Awards than any other actor/actress in the show for his role as Sheldon, and is the only main actor to win one. In 2010, Parsons won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, and then an Emmy for Best Actor in a Comedy Series in 2011 and 2014. However, the show has only won seven Emmy Awards in total.
